COMMENTS:
Li Shaoran is a tranfer student from Hong Kong that joins Sakura's and Tomoyo's class. He is a descendent of Clow Reed, and has magical abilities. He came to Tomoeda to capture the Clow Cards, and at first, is a rival of Sakura's. He uses his Lasin board to locate the Clow cards, but only Sakura with her Sealing Wand can actually capture the cards. He initially lives alone with Wei, but is eventually joined by Meilin.

COMMENTS:
Li is a direct descendant of Clow Reed, the ancient creator of the Clow Cards. Initially, Li is Sakura's fiercest rival for capturing the Clow Cards. However, Li actually likes Sakura more than he lets on. Starting at around CCS# since before that, Li-kun himself is confused as to who he really likes. This is evidenced by his willingness to help Sakura catch the Clow Cards. Hmmm... yes and no. Li can't actually seal the Clow Cards himself, only Sakura and her Sealing Wand can do that, so he needs her there at every battle. In order get a card for himself, Li-kun needs to be the one to reveal the Clow Card's true form, let Sakura seal it, and then the Card will come to him. At heart, Li is involved in the Cardcaptor's quest for the same altruistic reason as Sakura, to save the world from the chaos of the Clow Cards.
