Sonomi and Nadeshiko were cousins, and Sonomi looked out for Nadeshiko all through their school years. Sonomi deeply resents Fujitaka for taking Nadeshiko away, although she does admit that Nadeshiko was very happy while with Kinomoto-sensei. Sonomi is very busy at her company, but cares a great deal for her daughter, Tomoyo. They both live in a large house, thanks to the wealth of the company. Sonomi gives Tomoyo some of her company's products to test from time to time, which Tomoyo often passes on to Sakura, Kero-chan, and Li-kun.
