Konnichi wa! Yes, still alive, still here, and by now, you probably know not to believe any possibility of an update I mention on this page. Gomenasai!!! ^_^;
BUT - I have fixed the music videos links. And if you are really bored, I'm still doing the blog thing. Yes, that is where my updates happen, not here.
Best wishes for a shiny 2005, and no update promises, although I will get back to this site, I just don't know when.
February 5, 2004
Have the script for the first CCS movie about 1/3 done. Wanted to get it
up in time for Christmas as a present for you guys, but that didn't
work. Than I thought, it could be a New Year's present, but that didn't
work. And now I've also missed Chinese New Year, so I'll get to it when
I get to, as it has been with this (and all of my other fansites) for
the past year.
And so it will be for this year (2004) as well. Still on the journey to
financial freedom, and it takes work and time, so this site is still on
hold - sorry. But man, when I get my 40-50 hours a week back, are you
gonna see some updates! ^_^
Until then, if you are really bored, you can check out my blog.

Hey guys! The Right Stuf has the first 9 CCS DVDs at a special price of
only $98.99 (compared to $269.82 if you bought them individually :).
Click HERE to check it out! Note: I am not an affiliate with
them, as I am with Amazon.com, so this site won't get any cash from your
purchase, but this is a really great deal if you've been wanting to get
these DVDs. And just in time for Christmas!
November 22, 2003
I've been meaning to put this info up here for a while, but kept
forgetting. Since I just answered an email about it, I figured this was
a good time to finally get around to telling you where you can find CC
DVDs that have some of the eps that were never shown in America.
(Un)fortunately, there is a catch - it's an online seller in Australia,
which means unless you have a special DVD player that change regions,
you won't be able to play these DVDs. Here is the URL: http://www.ezydvd.com.au/. Do a search for "cardcaptors"
and you will see 5 DVDs. These are the CCS eps, uncut, in the correct
order, but as dubs.
There is a review of the first DVD that explains the difference. When
he says "R4 vs R1" he is talking about DVD region encoding. The US is
Region 1, Australia is Region 4, and Japan is Region 2. Anyway, there
you go. If anyone gets one of these, please drop me an email because I'd like to work out
getting a tape copy from you. Thanks!
August 18, 2003 -
Hi guys! Just wanted to let you know that Pioneer will be releasing the
second CCS movie on November 18, 2003. If you've seen the whole CCS
series, then you need to watch this after the last TV ep so you know how
Sakura & Shaoran's relationship *really* turns out. ^_^.
Here's
a link to the Pioneer description. There is also a "special edition",
but the descriptions look the same, so I'm not sure what that means.
Take care, and thanks for stopping by!
February 11, 2003 -
A change in priorites means I won't be doing anything with this site for about the next year. Don't worry, though, I own this domain for the next 10 years, so I'll be back, probably in 2004. Many thanks to everyone who has visited and emailed me, and maybe by next year they will have officially released the CCS 2nd movie, so you can know what really happened between Sakura and Li. ^_^
October 1, 2002 -
Hi - anybody still here? I made an update to the Store while I was waiting at work for traffic to
clear before going home. I know, long time, no updates, but if my
future works out the way it should, I will have *lots* of time for fan
sites. In the mean time, my favorite anime has become Fruits Basket,
which has been picked up for release by FUNimation. No word on a
release date for it (yet :). No empty promises on the next update, but
at least you know how much CCS is now available on DVD/VHS. ^_^;
5 June 2002 -
Well, vacation really ... wasn't. Amazing how many things fill up your time when you have it. But, I have CCS#4 (complete episode & Kero-chan ni Omakase) now online for everyone, which completes the first CCS DVD. And it only took me 1 year and 2 months. ^_^;;
Thank you to everyone who continues to visit this site - I average about 800 hits a week. FYI (and for a little cross-selling), I've updated Kestrel's Financial Freedom, which will tell you what I'm spending all the time I would be screen-grabbing CCS eps on - my part-time businesses. Not sure when the next update will be for this site, but it will likely be CCS#17/CC#3. Ja ne!
16 May 2002 -
You can tell I'm feeling guilty about not updating this site because I
keep doing these little updates. ^_^; BUT I
have some content for you this time! Please check out the Music Video page for a new CCS music video.
8 May 2002 -
Okay, I really should be working, but I can't pass up this opportunity
to tell you guys about a petition to bring back CC
on KidsWB here in the US. Please check out Complete
Cardcaptors USA! petition. Why do I want CC back if I rant on it so bad? Because maybe
(a really BIG maybe - most companies don't tend to take online petitions
too seriously - they pay more attention to letter writing campaigns,
ESPECIALLY if you target the advertisers who had commercials during the
show since that is where the real money is - but consider signing the
petition and letting others know you are interested in seeing more of
a great story) they will bring back the full
dub episodes that all
the other countries saw, and people will at least get to see the other
30+ episodes they have missed out on. And maybe someone will be
interested in seeing the real thing (CCS). And maybe it will prove to the
marketing fools that real, unedited anime
can make a profit here in the US. Maybe. ^_^ Thanks to
So Cal Kero for this info!
26 March 2002 -
Update to the Store, because somehow I got CCS
DVD#8 and CCS DVD#9 confused, but they are both up there now. I couldn't
find a listing for a CC DVD#9, but I'll check again later.
Heard that they re-wrote the plot for the CC
version of the first movie (thanks for the info, Kyle :), so that will
make for an interesting review. Also got an email that TokyoPop will be
releasing the Film Books for CCS. These are really cool little books
that have images and text about each of the episodes (I have copies of
these in Japanese - they are a really great reference for making music videos).
I'm traveling for work almost every week, so there probably won't be a
major update until my current project finishes in mid-May. Thank you to
everyone that visits and continues to visit.
28 February 2002 -
Mini-mini update to the Store that CCS DVD#8
has a release date of May 14, 2002. CC Vol#8 is coming out on April 2,
2002, and the first CCS Movie is coming out on March 26, 2002.
I've been working on my Financial
Freedom Web site, and I'm afraid this site has been a bit neglected.
I'm still going to continue this site (there is still so much work to be
done ^_^) but updates will likely be a little less frequently.
Thanks for stopping by, and thanks to those that email and send banners
for my Links page (which also had a small
update).
29 January 2002 -
I just got CCS DVD #4 (with a very pretty pencil board and postcard), CCS DVD #7 (with postcard), and CC DVD #7 (with nothing). And, having seen the end of the first season of CC, I realize that this fansite is needed more than ever. The whole originality, creativity, and beauty of the first season is totally lost in CC. Sigh.
ANYWAY ... updates to the Store, where you can now pre-order the first Sakura movie (yay!!!), or catch up on your VHS or DVD collection. Many thanks to all who have purchased through my store - my fourth quarter commission was $10.57, which means over $200 of merchandise was bought (and not returned ^_^). Also added a Music Video link to the Extras page. Special thanks to "Saffy" for the animated .gif on the Music Video page!
2 January 2002 -
Happy New Year! Okay, I finally finished CCS#3/CC#16: the complete episode, Kero-chan ni omakase, and Today's Card are all now online. Whew! That one took a while, since there was so much edited out and dialog changed. Not as big of an update as I was hoping for, but I had to work on my JMS Comics fansites as well this vacation. Hope everyone had safe and happy holidays, and I'll be back later.
22 December 2001 -
Okay - everything has been moved into the house and semi-unpacked.
After a run to Radio Shack, I'm ready to rig up the video system to the
computer, and then I'll be back in business for screengrabs.
For those awaiting CCS Vol.4 DVD/VHS, which is due out in January
(along with CCS Vol.7 DVD/VHS and
CC Vol.7 DVD/VHS), check out the
Pioneer Animation page under
NEWS/12.17.2001. They have images of the special treat that is going to
be in the CCS Vol.4 DVD/VHS release. Looks really nice.
And a great big THANK YOU
to everyone who visits and keeps coming back - my hits counter has been
over 1000 for the past two weeks! It makes me think my little CCS
obsession isn't as weird as my family thinks it is ^_^. Happy and Safe
Holidays to everyone!
14 December 2001 -
Many thanks to everyone who emailed me info on names and episodes - I've updated the character pages with the CC names. I still have to move my desk, which means the computers aren't set up yet, but I'm working on it. I've also gotten some time off from work near the end of the month, so look for an update sometime then.
And some news on the first CCS movie - it's coming! Chronologically, it happens after CCS#35.
Here's what www.animeondvd.com posted in their November 2001 update:
Cardcaptor Sakura movie
(05:42 PM EST): While a good amount of
information has come out regarding the two upcoming versions of the first
Cardcaptor Sakura movie, we got a bit more clarification on the uncut version
that I had been looking for. So let's run down the two:
| Cardcaptors The Movie |
Cardcaptor Sakura The Movie |
| 4:3 Pan & Scan |
16:9 Anamorphic Widescreen |
| English 2.0 Soundtrack |
English 2.0 Soundtrack, English 5.1
Soundtrack, Japanese 2.0 Soundtrack, Japanese 5.1 Soundtrack |
| Extras: Froggy Mix Music Video, and
Theatrical Trailer |
Extras: English / Japanese Trailers and
Commercials, alternate angle footage and more |
To make things even more interesting, there is no cuts being made to the
Cardcaptors dub-only movie. Well, beyond the image being cropped and panned and
scanned. The dub on the dub-only disc is the same as the widescreen movie
edition. The footage is exactly the same across the two. My guess is that this
allows those who don't want to touch the Japanese version can do so by getting
what the TV discs are like. But for those who have wanted an uncut dub, this is
where you make out the best. The widescreen bilingual disc looks to be the clear winner here.
And while it doesn't look they are editing anything out, I'd bet money on dialog changes. And there'll be lots to screen grab and show you what's missing between a Pan & Scan version and the true Widescreen version. For those that saw Disney's Beauty and the Beast in theaters enough to remember certain scenes, you know how badly they translated to a Pan & Scan version for the video release.
29 November 2001 -
Okay, big ol' update to the Characters section - new content, some new layouts, CCS and CC info. Also, since I haven't seen CC past the Sakura Arc, I don't know what names they gave Eriol, Akizuki, Suppi-chan, Ruby Moon, and Spinel Sun. If you know, please email me so I can update that page. Also, this will be the last update for a few weeks, as I have to pack up my system and move it to my new house (and there was much rejoicing little flags wave in the air). I can still check email and make textual changes, but any major content updates will have to wait a bit.
19 November 2001 -
Just finished my first (as there will probably be a few ^_^) CCS music
video. You can check it out on my Kestrel Music
Video page.
12 November 2001 -
Look - a real content update! Part 1 and Part 2 of CCS#3/CC#16 are now online. This is so far the worst I've seen. CC really works hard to eliminate Sakura and Yukito's relationship. And they have to create false circumstances to rationalize why Sakura can only choose from 3 cards. Well, it's because it's EPISODE NUMBER 3, not #16, and she has only captured 3 cards at this point in the REAL story! Sigh. Morons.
7 November 2001 -
Looks like CC
isn't canceled after all, it's just been put on hold for
sweeps and will be back later. Thanks to Jennifer for the info.
From the Anime news Service (http://www.animenewsservice.com):
"ANS has contacted Kids WB in regards to the recent removal of the
Cardcaptors TV seires from their weekend lineup. According to a
representitive the show has been pulled from the broadcast lineup
temporarily, and will return soon. When asked the reason for the
schedule change, we were informed it was due to the Nov. sweeps period.
Cardcaptors was replaced by the X-Men Evolution TV series."
1 November 2001 -
Got an email that KidsWB canceled CC. Anyone know more about this? My guess is that would mean they are not going to show the dubbed CCS, but you never know. It also makes me fear for the future of the subtitled DVDs - I really want all of the CCS episodes on DVD, and I can't afford the Japanese version ^_^;. Small update to the Store, and a big thank you for all of those who have purchased anything through my store - got my quarterly Amazon Associates report and a $12.32 gift certificate today. That means CC DVD#6 only cost me $9.38. I get a small proceed from any sale if you get to Amazon.com through the links in my Store, so even if you aren't buying CCS/CC stuff, please consider going through my Store. Arigatou!
29 October 2001 -
Hoe! CCSvsCC had over 1000 visitors last week (1026 to be exact). Domo Arigatou Mina-san!
I've (finally) created a Link Page. If you would like me to link to your site, please send the URL/banner and I'll check it out. I've also got 4 banners in you want to use them to link to this site. Please be sure to copy the banner image to your own server - this site gets a lot of traffic as it is.
23 October 2001 -
Looks like the WB (in America) is going to air all of the dubbed CCS
episodes in their correct order starting November 5th. I haven't found
any information online to validate this, but you might want to get some
tapes and your vcrs ready. I'm assuming some stuff is still edited out,
just to make room for commercials, and I have no idea how they are going
to reconcile it with the other story/plot changes they have made, but it
will be interesting to watch regardless. Does this also mean there will
be a different set of DVD/VHS tapes released? Because right now, the
CCS DVDs only have a Japanese language track. And if you release it as
Cardcaptors, what are you going to number the
episodes, since (technicall), CC#1 is
CCS#8, whether or not it's dubbed.
12 October 2001 -
Expect the unexpected (I can't believe I just typed that ^_^;)
Just got some really interesting news and again, confirmation that all
CCS episodes were dubbed - we just don't get to see them over here in
America. Alpha from England said they have been watching almost all of the
CCS dubbed, in the correct order. Watching it like that,
CC would have a real storyline and
some character development. It appears they are still cutting some
scenes and re-writting dialog, but still, that's at least 23 more
episodes to enjoy than what the American audience got in the first
season alone.
So, I still don't like the changes or the edits. I am even more
convinced the marketing person who thought up the American strategy of
not showing all of the episodes is a complete and utter fool. And I was
getting used to the dialog changes until I watched CCS#35/CC#13 where they completely re-wrote
Sakura's crush on Yukito which is just too painful. More on that one
later.
Since I am an American and I only have access to the CC DVDs for review purposes, this site will
continue to focus on the differences between the American-aired CC episodes and the true CCS story and
characters. And I have updated the Background
Information page to reflect this new information.
I'll be happy to update this page with any CCS or CC information anyone wants to send to me, but the
focus of my ire will be the America broadcast order (or lack thereof).
Hopefully it will sink in that what was done to CCS (and to CC since I might not have even created this site if
they had aired all of the episodes in the correct order over here)
was a mistake, so that future animes may not suffer the same fate,
and America can watch the same shows as other countries.
9 October 2001 -
Many thanks to those who responded to me. Here's the scoop - it looks
like all of the CCS episodes were dubbed. So why does America start at
CCS#8 for CC#1? I have no confirmation, but
from what I remember of the original rationalizations it was to change
the target audience from little girls to little boys and create a
competitor for Pokemon. I address this a little bit on the
Background Information page.
Anyway - my
immediate next thought is - what dialog changes did they make on the
episodes we aren't going to see as CC
episodes? They are so far ahead into the Sakura arc right now
that unless it's
some kind of weird flashback, they will not show some of those early
episodes. My guess is they won't show them at all because some of them
don't have a battle, a fight, or Li anywhere in the episode, so why
bother?
So if any of you fortunate people in other countries happen to get a
copy of a dubbed CCS episode that isn't listed as a CC episode, would you please send me a copy? Domo
arigatougozaimasu!!!
3 October 2001 -
Okay guys, Part 4, Part 5, and Part 6, Part 7, Kero-chan no omakase, and Today's Card of CCS#12/CC#2 are now ready for your enjoyment. I've also updated the Glossary (thanks to Horio for the information!). And our English viewers are just starting Cardcaptors and saw CCS#1 dubbed in English?! Does this mean Nelvana really did dub all of the CCS episodes and just aren't airing them in the US? Anyone know anything about this?
26 September 2001 -
Due to the unfortunately large amount of changes in CCS#12/CC#2, it's taking me about 2-3 hours per Part page. But Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 of that episode is now online.
12 September 2001 -
I am fortunate enough not to have family or friends directly hurt in the
attack on the United States yesterday morning. Best wishes to all of
you and yours in this tragic time, and sincere thanks to all of the men
and women participating in the rescue and recovery efforts.
If you can, please give blood - it will be greatly needed in the days to
come.

Worthy of it's own update: Please check out Rabi's CardCaptor Sakura
page if you want scripts to all of CCS, including the movies (assuming
you can't wait for my site to catch up - don't worry, I don't blame you
a bit :) Follow the path through the Anime link near the bottom of the
page to the TV anime episodes and Movie Anime info links.
29 August 2001 -
Minor update to the Store and the Episode List. I've started on the screen grabs for
CCS#12/CC#2. Also, I buy the CC DVDs so I can
support professional anime (even if it is butchered :) and get my
screengrabs and dialog comparisons. Amazon.com currently has a "Share
the Savings" kinda program where after I buy something, I can send an
email to someone to receive 10% off that something if they buy it from
Amazon.com. Personally, I don't know anyone who wants to buy CC on DVD
- but if one of you visitors out there does, drop me an email at kestrel@ccsvscc.com. I still need
to buy CC Volume 4 on DVD (New Lessons) at some point.
And, I don't have a place for them yet on the site, but the first
CardCaptor Sakura movie happens after CCS#35, and the second CardCaptor
Sakura movie happens after the end of the CCS series (CCS#70) and has
spoilers, just so you know. I don't think Nelvana has licensed these
yet, so who knows when they will be shown in the US.
2 August 2001 -
Sorry - nothing new on the site. I'm in Chicago for the next 2 weeks
for work. My summer "vacation" was great. I watch CCS#55 raw and understood
about 75% of it all by myself. ^_^ Thanks to Kyle
Thomas Pope for his continued updates. Looks like this Saturday (August
4, 2001) will be starting the Sakura Card arc, which, in the true CCS
universe is episode number 47 - at least I think the CC episode will be CCS#47.
^_^;
9 July 2001 -
Quick update while I'm on a 4 day break after finishing Japanese I and
starting Japanese II. First - THANK YOU! to all who have visited this
website - the counter report for last week was a nice even 700 hits!
Second - thanks to those of you sending me updates on CC. Seems another new ep aired entitled "The
Mysterious Painting" which we all know as CCS#7. Apparantly these new
eps are the beginning of third season.
The official CC
website - www.clowbook.com
- has been
updated with spoiler-filled descriptions of all eps from the first and
second seasons. If you haven't seen them, don't read these unless you
want to know *everything* that happens and who it happens to. Sayonara!
24 June 2001 -
Okay, just a bit of info: new episodes of CC
are now being shown in the United States. The first episode of this
season is apparantly CCS#1,
hacked up, with some footage from CCS#41 inserted so Li is somewhere in
the episode. It's called "One Fateful Day", and they also removed Yukito
(not like he's an important part of the show or anything, :(
Anyway, I currently don't have any kind of television reception, and
therefore am getting footage for my reviews from the release of the
CC DVDs, so it will probably be a while
before I get to this one. In
any case, if you want the unedited, true story and real characters, check
out CCS. And many thanks for the emails to help keep me up to date on
this stuff - I really do appreciate them. See you in a month!
19 June 2001 -
CCS#2 is now online! And this will be my last update for a while. I am going on vacation for a month to take the immersive Japanese language courses at the Raissas Foundation in New Hampshire. Hopefully when I come back, I'll be able to understand anime without the subtitles(!) Mata ne!
18 June 2001 -
Made some corrections in the Glossary and associated pages. Thanks to all who of you for helping me get this right. Also, apparantly Brazil has been spared the tragedy of CC, since they get the original CCS on their Cartoon Network. Lucky!
6 June 2001 -
Uploaded some new Clow Cards and an update to the Store, including an explanation (kinda sorta) of why you'll get CCS#5 before you get CCS#4. Project
A-Kon was great, and if you ever get a chance to see the Biggs/Carter Experience (click on the Pipe graphic, then click on Products, then scroll down for a link) - Do It! Even if you aren't an actor, these two have an amazing chemistry together that is wonderful to watch. And you may hear the story of how Richard Biggs broke William Shatner's nose.
29 May 2001 -
Just a note to say I have not forgotten about this site - far from it.
With the release of CCS#3 and CC#3, I've got even more work to do. But,
this weekend I'm on VidStaff at Project
A-Kon, where I'm also giving a talk on Music Videos for
Beginners, so I've been a bit busy. But, hopefully, there will be
an update before the end of June - mostly likely CCS#2, since I've got
all of the screen captures done. Many thanks to all who have visited -
over 400 of you last week!
1 May 2001 -
The rest of Episode CCS#8/CC#1 is now online: Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Kero-chan ni omakase, and Today's Card - Shadow, as well as an updated Extras page. Whew! And unless I gets lots of email asking me otherwise, I'm not going to process the larger episode pictures from now on. It takes a bunch of time, and I'd rather put more episodes online instead.
30 April 2001 -
Okay, Part 4 of Episode CCS#8/CC#1 is now up, much more tomorrow after I proof some pages.
25 April 2001 -
Two more Characters now online, as well as Part 2 and Part 3 of Episode CCS#8/CC#1.
20 April 2001 -
Episode CCS#8/CC#1 Part 1 is now on line. Parts 2-4, Kero-chan ni omakase and Today's Card - Shadow on their way in the next few weeks. Yes, weeks - it's taking me a lot longer than I thought to do these, but I'm going to do them right, so I'm afraid you'll have to be patient.
17 April 2001 -
New home page graphics and smaller subnavigation added. Now listing both the DVD order and broadcast order of the CC titles under Episodes.
13 April 2001 -
The Store is now up to date with Amazon.com's current CCS and CC offerings. Please take a look, and follow the links even if you want to buy something else from Amazon.com - the referral fees I get will help me purchase more material to create content for this website. The CCS and CC DVD/VHS volume #3 is due to be released May 8, 2001. Pre-order now!
12 April 2001 -
A little color coating to help you distinguish the good (CardCaptor Sakura) from the bad (Cardcaptors) and why it's ugly (Kestrel's notes). A few Characters now online, as well as an explanation of why Bloodtypes and Favorite Flowers are important.
4 April 2001 -
CCS vs CC goes live! Many thanks to KWP for hosting and admin services, and JTE for proofing and ego-boosting services. Currently 9 Clow Cards, 1 Episode, and misc. other pages online.
